Cricket betting on showdown — bet across all formats, from T20 to Test
For every BPL, IPL and international cricket match, showdown offers a range of markets, real-time odds and live in-play betting. Deposit and withdraw quickly using Bangladeshi payment methods.
Three cricket formats and which competitions to bet on
The first step to understanding cricket betting is knowing the formats. Each format has its own rhythm, and the available markets change accordingly.
T20 is the fastest format — the match ends in 20 overs, run rates are high, and situations can change in an instant. BPL (Bangladesh Premier League), IPL and ICC T20 World Cup matches are the most familiar to Bangladeshi fans. Live betting is especially engaging in this format because odds are recalculated after every over.
ODI, or One Day International cricket, combines strategy and patience across 50 overs. When tactics shift in the middle overs, odds move with them, making the betting markets more varied.
Test cricket is a five-day contest — markets open gradually here, and the course of the match is shaped by pitch conditions, weather and session-by-session play. A draw is possible in Test cricket, so the match winner market carries three possible outcomes.
Before you start betting on showdown, it is worth reading the responsible gaming guidelines.
Football and other sports — how they differ from cricket
Football Betting
In football there are usually three possible results — home win, away win or draw. Unlike cricket there are no innings or overs; instead, goals, corners and cards each create separate markets. The English Premier League and UEFA Champions League are very popular in Bangladesh.
1 X 2 Market Asian HandicapWhat makes cricket betting different
T20 and ODI have no draws, so the markets are straightforward. Even so, small events like wickets, run rates and partnerships form their own markets. In Test cricket a draw is possible, so you bet on three potential outcomes — similar to football.
Wicket Market Session BettingTennis and other sports
Tennis has betting markets based on sets and games. Badminton and table tennis offer point-by-point live betting. It is wise to understand the pace and pattern of each sport before you start betting.
Set Betting Live GameSports betting vs casino betting
In sports betting the outcome depends on a real match, while casino games use a Random Number Generator. If you also enjoy card games, the mini baccarat page has full details.
Sports Odds RNG GamesPopular cricket betting markets — how each one works
showdown offers several markets for cricket. Below are seven common markets explained in plain language:
Match Winner
Pick which team will win the match. In T20 or ODI there are only two possibilities; in Test there are three. Example: if you bet on Team A to win, you get a return only if Team A wins.
Toss Winner
Bet on which team will win the toss before the match starts. The result is known before any play begins, making this a quick market.
Top Run Scorer (Top Batsman)
Which batter will score the most runs in an innings or across the full match. If you have records of a team's openers' past performance, this market is easier to assess.
Total Runs Over/Under
Choose whether the total runs in an innings will be above (over) or below (under) a set number. Example: if the line for a T20 innings is set at 160, you bet on either over or under.
Multi Bet (multiple selections)
Combine the results of several matches on a single slip. You get a return only if every selection is correct — one wrong selection and the entire bet is lost. Odds are multiplied together, so potential returns are higher but so is the risk.
Time of First Wicket
In how many overs or at what run total the first wicket will fall. If the opening partnership is strong, there is a greater chance the first wicket falls later.
Top Wicket Taker (Top Bowler)
Which bowler will take the most wickets in an innings. Considering whether the pitch favours spinners or pacers before betting helps you make a more informed choice.
Series Winner
Which team will ultimately win a multi-match series. This is a long-term market — odds shift as the series progresses.
How to read and understand odds
On showdown, odds may be displayed in three formats — decimal, fractional and American. All three express the same probability; only the way they are written differs. A practical example is given below:
| Odds Format | Team A Win (example) | Explanation |
|---|---|---|
| Decimal | 2.25 | Stake × 2.25 = total return |
| Fractional | 5/4 | ৳5 profit for every ৳4 staked |
| American | +125 | ৳125 profit on a ৳100 stake |
Multi bet example
Decimal odds across three matches: 1.50 × 1.70 × 1.80 = 4.59 (approximately). A ৳100 bet returns ৳459 if all selections are correct. If any one selection is wrong, the full ৳100 is lost.
Team A / Team B are illustrations only. Actual match odds will differ.
Why do odds change?
- When betting money is heavily weighted to one side
- When team line-ups or pitch reports are announced
- When a wicket falls or a six is hit during a live match
- When weather conditions change
Live in-play betting — bet while the match is on LIVE
Live betting is a key part of the cricket experience on showdown. Once the match starts, odds update with every ball, wicket or six.
Say Team A has started batting and scored well without losing a wicket in the first five overs. At that point, Team A's odds of winning will shorten (meaning they are becoming the favourite) and Team B's odds will lengthen. In the same way, two quick wickets can reverse the situation entirely.
Live betting in T20 moves especially fast. Big odds shifts are common during the powerplay, death overs and the final five overs as run pressure or bowling attacks take hold.
In ODI cricket there are many turning points across fifty overs — the run rate at the 30th over, lower-order resistance, or a batting collapse against spin. Odds are recalibrated at each of these moments.

Practical tips for cricket betting
- Learn one market well: Rather than betting across all markets at once, build experience in one — such as match winner — before moving on.
- Set a budget: Decide in advance how much you are willing to spend. Betting is a form of entertainment — do not go beyond your budget trying to recover losses.
- Check pitch and weather conditions: Knowing the pitch type (spin-friendly or pace-friendly) for Test matches and weather conditions for ODIs helps you make better-informed bets.
- T20 death-over odds: Odds move fast in the death overs. If the situation feels hard to read during live betting, choosing not to bet is also a valid decision.
- Be careful with multi bets: More selections mean more risk. When starting out, avoid combining more than three to five selections on a single slip.
- Bet responsibly: Betting is never a way to earn an income. Follow the responsible gaming guidelines and set your own limits.
